Rooted
in the belief that we
are inherently musical beings - a unique human attribute -
music can and should be a part of one's life. And
no, we are
not talking about becoming a pro or a concert pianist for
everyone. Music is a gift for all.
At the very core, Music
Kid’s Way - our foundational music course - is based on the
belief that
..
every child is born to
EXPLORE CREATE
INSPIRE
And
music holds the key to important early
childhood developments beyond just the aesthetics. Not only
so, music is the cornerstone in developing a
well-balanced child:
happy,
vibrant, responsive, able to focus, confident and creative
Every
child naturally
loves music. Music is easy,
in fact, natural, to every child. However, this innate
ability to
process and appreciate music must be nurtured before it is diminished
or lost. Music Kid’s Way therefore aims to maximize
the
musical potential of a child during his or her most rapid developmental
period. Our objectives are not just to impart knowledge, but
more
importantly, to engage, inspire, encourage and promote
self-confidence, imagination and creativity in each child.
Similarly,
for our instrumental courses - guitar, drum and piano, we believe in
starting from the
inside out. Developed to make learning fun, easy and
inspiring,
we aim first
to instill an interest & passion for music in each student,
young
or adult. An overall good musicianship is what we will try to
develop on top of empowering the students with attainable skills in
order to make meaningful music with others or for personal pleasure.
As
our name
implies, Family In Tune encourages and promotes making music together
as a way to communicate, connect and bond with family members or
friends. To this means, we design and provide avenue for members to not
just learn together, but more importantly, to achieve harmony and
cohesiveness as a team.
Our Instructors:
Geok Moon
Blessed
with 3 children even when medical advances failed, Moon appreciates and
celebrates the gift of life. Although trained in the classical
piano since young, music was more of a means to an end than for
enjoyment. However, music came alive and natural when Moon
self-taught the guitar and embraced the chord approach in playing the
piano. Highlights during school years were marked with
involvement in gatherings and church worship sessions in which she
played the keyboard, guitar and/or sang. She has taught piano
privately, at a childcare centre, as well as in an established pop and
jazz
music
school until recently. As if by chance, Moon was brought to
the threshold of her destiny when she won the StarHub’s
“Live Your Passion” Contest in 2007 (read more here).
She has not looked back since. Determined to bring blessings
to
children through music, Moon has set up a “music
playground” where children learn music through play.
More
than 400 have since experienced the joy of music.
Danny
Danny
has a passion for teaching, honed through
working as a tutor, church youth staff, primary school teacher, and as
a head coach in an established Christian music school in
Singapore. Other than singing in school and church choirs
during his younger days, Danny also plays various instruments including
the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, and
keyboards. He has performed in small cafes as well as in
public
venues
including The Esplanade Waterfront, Youth Park, YMCA rooftop cafe, NUS,
NTU, SMU, Singapore Indoor Stadium and National Stadium, not to mention
at numerous weddings. The largely self-taught musician picked up music
theory from reading books, and has conducted various seminars in church
worship ministries in band dynamics. His guitar playing and singing has
been recorded in various local “xinyao” demos in
the past,
as well as in his church's (Covenant EFC's) recent worship album,
Journey.
Bobby Singh
As
one of the most prominent, talented, versatile and respected
percussionists in Asia, Bobby Singh needs no introduction among the
elite of musicians in this region. His amassed wealth of experience and
accomplishment in both live performances and recording studios with
local and international artistes has made him a much sought after
musician and sessionist. Bobby has toured extensively and performed to
distinguished dignitaries and royalty, played in numerous major
corporate and national events. Some of the recent highlights include
the Beijing Olympics, Singapore Formula 1 and Mosaic Festival; well
known artistes include James Ingram, Asiabeat, Jeremy Monteiro,
Blair’s Bunch, Jack Lee, Late Amran, Jessica Soo, David
Bowie,
Lewis Pragasam, Wendi Koh, Marina Xavier, Asha Bhosle, Art Fazil, and
much more.
Starting
out at a tender age as part of his family band, Bobby went on to
graduate in Indian classical music specializing in the TABLA. However,
his talent and passion in music has since taken him much
further
as he is now equally proficient in the Western drums, Eastern European,
Latin and African percussion instruments such as cajon, congas, bongos
and djembe, just to name a few. His versatility in many percussion
instruments as well as his adaptability and ability to improvise to any
music genres including Pop, Jazz, Brazilian and Latin has mesmerized
many audiences and set his music apart. Bobby currently performs
nightly at the Shangri-La Hotel and teaches at primary and secondary
schools in the day as an appointed music teacher by the Ministry of
Education and the National Arts Council of Singapore.
